What do you mean?

As Joe average user?

The answer is really going to be specific to your phone, your mobile operator, and your subscription with your mobile operator?

Many smart phones have a built-in e-mail client. They allow you to connect to a POP3 or IMAP mail server, so that you can send and receive e-mail. This usually requires a subscription with your mobile operator where you can access a GPRS Access Point that provides full internet access.

If your phone has a WAP browser in it, and you have an account with your mobile operator that allows you to connect to WAP services, then you could use the browser to connect to an account on an e-mail server that has a "WebMail" type of interface for WAP phones. (Some mobile operators offer these types of accounts to their customers as part of their WAP service.)

If none of that applies to you, your mobile operator might allow you to send an SMS message to an e-mail address. This is a standard service on several of the US operators, where you send a message to a particular short code number, and you include the e-mail address as the first part of the text of your SMS. Outside the US, I've seen some independent services that offer this type of capability. I've seen references to http://www.excell.to in the past, but I don't know how well it works.

If you're looking to enable this type of e-mail to SMS service for a group of users in a business environment, you can enable this type of thing with our Now SMS/MMS Gateway product.
