Is there any way to specify originator of the message for SMS messages? I've tried to do it using 'Sender' parameter in URL request but it seems that gateway just ignores it. So all messages come from the real number they are sent from.
Recently we used gateways of Clickatell and MXTelecom to send messages and we can set sender to any phone number or any text string up to 11 characters. So can we do the same thing using NowSMS gateway?

Oleg,

If you are sending via an SMSC connection that supports this capability, then you can use the "Sender" parameter in the URL request.

(Note that in addition to the SMSC supporting this capability, you also need to check the setting "Allow Sender Address Override" when you define the SMSC to NowSMS.)

If you are sending messages via a GSM modem, it is not possible to override the sender address. This is not a limitation of NowSMS, it is a limitation of what is possible when using a GSM modem interface (there is nowhere in the interface to specify the sender phone number, and the phone number associated with the modem is automatically applied by the operator SMSC when you submit a message to be sent).

Bryce,
but how other gateways (such as mentioned above Clickatell and MXTelecom) do this things? What do we need to be able to perform the same tasks by ourselves?

Oleg,

They don't use GSM modems for sending.

It is possible to override the sender if you have a direct SMSC connection (or a connection through an aggregator).
