Hello,
We use the /silent parameter to install the gateway software. After that, a configuration tool makes a new smsgw.ini file with all modems and so configured.
Our problem is, that the service will not be installed on the system as service (I of course stop the service before I write the ini file and restart it after).
Is there a way to start the service after a silent installation?
I tried smsgws.exe, but that doesn't seem to work, because the service is only shown in the system/services window after manually opening the smsgw.exe and selecting "Run as service".

Max,

For SMSGW.EXE, there is an /I command line parameter to install the service, and a /R parameter to remove the service.

Unfortunately, both options do display a dialog box.

And more unfortunately, the /I parameter only installs the SMS service (not the MMSC service).

While the /R parameter does remove both. (We use this one for the un-install, so it has been more thoroughly tested.)

We can easily update /I to install both, but then we would need to rebuild the install.

We are planning an updated install for late the week of March 1, but I could do one earlier for you if need be.

Hello Bryce,

Thank you for your help, we would be very interrested in a version that could use the /I parameter without showing the dialog, maybe with a second param like /q if that is possible.
The gateway software works great, and we will distribute it as part of a system to many customers. But most of our customers have only limited technical knowledge, thats why we prefer to configure the gateway automatically and hide all the configuration from them.

Sorry, I noticed that the dialog only shows when using that smsgw.exe /I from the command window.
When I execute it in a hidden shell, the dialog doesn't appear.
The little MsgBox which says "The service is installed.." is ok, that doesn't disturb the user's experience.

Okay. That is good that it is not causing a problem for you.

The next update will add /Q.
