So a text-only MMS is no problem at all to download?

It sounds like an issue regarding the WAP gateway that is configured for the MMS client. If a WAP gateway doesn't support SAR (segmentation and re-assembly) it will often have problems when the message size exceeeds 1500 bytes.

Normally this is not an issue with an operator WAP gateway ... but depending on what part of the world you are in, you may have an operator with a WAP gateway that does not suppport SAR, and that could be a problem for MMS traffic.

no problem with text.
no problems (on some occasions) with single images accompanying the text.
the error messages come up saying 'network...please check your settings.'

do you have a sample .mms file that you could send ?

Damo,

With a web browser, you could download the following file:

http://mms.now.co.uk/nowmms.mms

I suspect the problem is with the WAP gateway that is being used.

What mobile operator are you on? Maybe you can use a GRPS access point that supports open internet access, and configure the WAP gateway as 213.48.20.10? (This is a WAP gateway running in our office, so I know it has support required for MMS.)

Sorry for the delay getting back to you out here.

With a "503" error, did you try accessing that URL from a web browser or from a mobile phone. That sounds like an error that might occur if you tried to access it from a mobile phone.

I was suggesting that to download a sample MMS file to your PC, you could download that URL.
