Hi
I am right now testing the nowsms gateway in a live environment, and have a Nokia 6310i coupled up with cable and constant power supply to a PC that is always on.
When I checked the log files I can see that I have many errors saying modem failure. But I also get a lot of message send ok and every time I test it it seems to work flawlessly. Also the errors come with at very short time interval (once every ten minuts) Whereas I am sure that we only send out SMS less than once per hour.
I checked both the PC and the mobile that run
the nowsms software and both seem to run flawlessly.

My questions are:
- Is the error relevant?
- Is it generated through an automatic systems check by the nowsms gateway?
If the error is relevant do you have any idea
- what can cause it since both phone and PC are online and operational 24-7?
- Is it possible to send a http request to the nowsms gateway to ask for a modem status or get it in any other way? I would like to set up so we get an email warning if the system has problems.

Hi Henrik,

Without seeing the exact text of the error message, and the context in which it appears, I really can't answer your question.

If there are no errors referenced in the "event log", then I would not be concerned. (Unfortunately, we do not have a configuration setting to forward any error notifications written to the event log via e-mail, but that is something that we definitely need to consider for the future.)

There are automatic system checks that occur, and if there are any problems, NowSMS takes action to resolve the problem.

But it's not clear from your message whether or not that is what is occurring, because I'd really have to see the exact error message and the context in which it appears.

Thank you for the reply. It seems that the problem has solved it self for now. At least I have not had the problem in the last week.

... perhaps instead of "modem failure", we should change the title of this thread to "brain failure" ...
