Hi Mahidhara, I think we need you to clarify. What do you mean by "idle screen SMS"? Is that something specific to a particular phone manufacturer? There is no general standard message type for an "idle screen" SMS. You could write a screen saver and send updates for what it displays via SMS ... but that would require writing a screen saver application for different models of phones. That's really outside the scope of NowSMS. Or perhaps I have misunderstood your question ... if so, please clarify. -bn

Hi BN, The concept of idle screen (from what I understood) is that we can send OTA kind of a message to phone and when the phone goes idle (idle event) this text message along with user input option is displayed on phone (something like a WAP Push but it does not goes in to service inbox). I know we can use Symbian to create application to catch the idle screen event and do some stuff. But I have seen operators sending message via SMSC to the phones to update the idle screen text.

Hi, Unless there is an app pre-loaded on those phones ready and waiting to receive a message, I don't see how this is possible. There's no standard message type that would function like you describe. (SIM Toolkit, maybe ... but just like WAP push, it would not be limited to when the phone is idle.) -- Des NowSMS Support |
