Hi, I'm in south korea and I just bought the CBU-450D (http://www.cmotech.com/dualMode/product.do?act=view&product_seq=8) USB modem.
It functions fine with their propitiatory client ("DBDM Connection Manager") but I tried to get it working on NowSMS by adding it as a SMSC connection using one of its COM ports, but NowSMS simply hangs when trying to test the connection, and fails.
the COM port it opens are called:
Tlogin Data modem Data Service Port(CBU450D)
Tlogin Data modem Diagnostic Monitoring Port(CBU450D)
and it also creates a Modem device:
Tlogin Data modem Driver(CBU450D)

I would really appreciate if anyone is familiar with this and can shed some light on how to make this work.

Hi,

Are you going through a COM port, or the named modem driver?

I would suggest trying to use the named modem driver (although there are a few modems that don't add a driver for the modem port that supports SMS, so if the named driver results in the error "Modem does not support SMS", it is good to try COM ports too).

Can you query the modem ok from the Windows Control Panel modems area diagnostics?

What error message is NowSMS returning? (Give it up to 3 minutes, don't kill the task.)

What if you connect to the modem with a terminal emulator (PuTTY is a good one to try @ http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/)? If you type AT and press Enter is there any response from the modem? (Expect OK or 0)

If yes, does AT+CSMS=0 followed by Enter get an OK response?

If you want to use it for MMS also, go into Phone & Modem options in the Windows Control Panel and associate the "Standard 33600 bps Modem" driver with that COM port.

SMS support does not require a Windows modem driver, it can use a direct COM port reference.
