Hi Des

I was testing sending wap push messages using DCS=7 and DCS Value : 8 but the smsout logs show DCS value as F5 for all wap push. I tried adding the SMPP setting for DCS and even tried sending a wap push via the HTTP get URL but DCS value doesnt change. Is the DCS value for Wap push hard coded in NowSMS?

Kindly let me know

Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,

DCS and PID override values are not supported for WAP Push or Settings messages submitted via the web.

NowSMS is hard coded to use a value of F5.

There is a configuration setting that allows a different value to be used. It is described here: http://www.nowsms.com/wap-push-att-usa-gsm-modem

Note that those settings are new, however BinaryDCS is an older name for the PushDCS setting, and it has been around for a long time.

Generally speaking, this is not a setting that requires dynamic adjustment.

Devices are unlikely to be able to properly understand the settings if a value other than F5 or 4 is used for DCS. F5 is preferred, but some systems block what they consider to be unusual values. (A few older SMPP servers require all 8-bit binary messages to have a DCS value of 2, but that is accomplished with a connection specific override.)

If you want to experiment with different values, copy and paste the messages from the SMSOUT log to resubmit as binary messages with a different DCS value.
