Hi,
We are using Now SMS/MMS Gateway V2012.10.18. The ThreadCount property in SMSGW.INI has been set to 50.
The problem we have is that we have HIGH OutBound SMS QUEUE'd messages over 25,000, therefore the messages are sent very slowly and the delivery reports are received with great delay.
It would be kind of you to explain us the cause of this issue and how to resolve it.
Your fast reply is highly appreciated.
Best Regards,

Hi,

It is impossible for me to answer your question without information about your configuration. So, let me ask you a few questions. Please answer all questions so that I can better understand your configuration and help to resolve the problem.

1.) Is this a trial version or do you have a serial number license? If you have a serial number, what is the license speed?

2.) What type of SMSC connection are you using, and what configuration settings are set for that connection? The ThreadCount parameter that you reference applies only to HTTP-based SMSC connections. (Note: For SMPP connections, the number of transmitters is configured under the advanced settings. 50 would be an excessive number of connections to have between the same end points, and I would normally not go higher than 5 unless there was a specific reason observed in a performance analysis. On the other hand, 50 is a decent async window size.)

3.) Do you have multiple SMSC connections defined, or just that one?

4.) Is the performance issue specific to having a large number of queued messages? For example, if there are only 1000 queued message, is the outbound speed as expected? What is the observed speed when 1000 messages in the queue and when there are 25000 messages in the queue? (The SMSOUT-yyyymmdd.LOG files record when messages are successfully transmitted over the SMSC connection, so you can count messages per second or minute by analysing this log.)

5.) How are the 25000 messages being submitted to NowSMS? HTTP? SMPP? Direct creation of .REQ files in the Q Directory? (If directly creating .REQ files, there are special considerations that must be followed if submitting in large volumes.)
