Hi there, I can't detect Huawei E173 on SMSC window. When I hit the "Add" button only HTTP connection menu showed up (there is no SMPP or others connection appears). I am using Windows XP Service Pack 3 32 Bit.

I have tried:
1. reinstall the software from http://www.nowsms.com/download-free-trial
2. checking my modem on Control Panel -> Phone & Modem Options -> Modem. The modem appears normally.
3. go to diagnostics and run the query modem, here is the result:

Hi,

If only the HTTP SMSC option is available, this is an indication that you have installed an OEM serial number. The OEM serial number you are trying to use only supports connecting with additional software from that OEM partner, which is done via an HTTP interface.

Hi Des,

Thanks for your answer, but I didn't use OEM serial number. I still on 60 days trial right now. I'm going to use NowSMS on my company but seems like the software is not works in trial version for me. Is there something wrong with the modem?

Hi Benny,

Let me make sure I understand what you are saying, because maybe I am confused.

From the "SMSC" page in NowSMS, when you press "Add", you should see this:

It sounds like you are saying that you see this, but the only option available is "HTTP over TCP/IP". The other options that should be there are not.

If that is the case, go to the "Serial #" page. There should be no serial numbers listed, and the number of days left in the trial should be displayed.

If the problem persists, I would uninstall (from the Windows Control Panel) and then re-install.

No it's not. When I hit the Add button, it shows HTTP Connection windows directly without the options to choose. Here is the screenshot:

Sorry, my mistake.

What you describe is what happens if one of these OEM serial numbers is installed. NowSMS skips the choice selection that I posted and jumps directly to the "HTTP Connection" configuration that you are seeing.

So I was wrong about that part of the explanation, but the end result matches my original diagnosis.

Go to the "Serial #" page. There should be no serial numbers listed, and the number of days left in the trial should be displayed.

If the problem persists, I would uninstall (from the Windows Control Panel) and then re-install using a fresh download from http://www.nowsms.com/download-free-trial
