Many GSM mobile phones (like Nokia , Erricsson etc) has got in built GSM Modem or modem emulation which operate through GSM AT command set on serial interface. I have tried a Nokia phone for this purpose. I have connected mobile to PC COM1 port through mobile data cable & used hyper terminal for comm. When I give AT commnad at is echoed from phone but OK response doesn't comes. Even it is taking AT&V COMMAND it is responding with result (phone parameters) How can I get OK response and can I issue (or how) GSM commands for sending SMS through PC? Anil Gupta | |||

Hi Anil, You might not have the right type of cable. Nokia phones generally have two types of cable interfaces ... one allows the phone to be used as a modem with AT commands ... the other is for special purpose programming (logos/provisioning). However, the fact that it is responding with some information is a bit weird. You could try sending ATE0V1 to the phone ... this turns off echo (E0), and enables verbose responses (V1). -bn |
