I am Phani Kumar,working for Software Paradigms Ltd , at India. I have downloaded NowSMS,currently evaluating the product features to send barcode via sms. Our main requirements to send Barcode messages as EMS to different mobiles and service providers. I am able to send Text messages but faced problem in sending Barcode as EMS message. I am trying to send bar code as an EMS picture message with dimension multiples of 8(8*8,16*8), Is there any mechanism to avoid this limitation,I am expecting to send EMS picture message with any dimension not only with multiples of 8. We are succeeded in sending bar code as EMS picture message using Nokia Smart Message format to Nokia mobiles and we are able to see Bar code message. We faced problem to send same message as an EMS format to Samsung phones,bar code image is not displayed on Samsung mobile. We are using Samsung galaxy, galaxypop, galaxywhite mobiles for testing purpose. Could you please guide us is there any configurations changes are required to do this activity and Samsung support EMS messages ? Appreciate you help and Thanks in Advance, Phani. | |||

Hi Phani, Unfortunately, EMS has become a forgotten/legacy format. Neither Android nor the iPhone support it. (Samsung Galaxy devices are, of course, Android based.) The argument that these environments offer is that EMS is obsolete, and you should use MMS instead. Of course, it is a lot more difficult (and expensive) for content providers to use MMS in most countries. What most real world solutions use is a text message that includes a HTTP link to open the bar code in a browser. It is neither pretty nor elegant, but it offers wider compatibility ... assuming your subscribers have internet service on their phone. hello phani kumar, i am making a application which will send the bar code to mobile phones (mostly smartphone) via a sms gateway.the problem i m facing is that the barcode is a picture file(PNG file) and i have to send it over a sms gateway which only allow text to be send. is there any way to send the barcode file over sms gateway.how u used the ems to send the barcode? thanks in advance . | |||
