hello

in our network we used the wap version v2010.02.01 , we did a restriction based on APN where we blocked to some domain to a specific IP ranges , the issue is despite this restriction we keep on having continuous request from application install in handset used by subscribers in this IP range; like Nimbuzz, opera mini , weyebb.pelmorex.com/BBerry, my.navizon.com/Webapps/MergeService/LocateMe.aspx,UCweb, which create congestion on the nowwap application, whenever they send the request the obtain the HTTP error 403, those application keep sending the request to the wapgw and create congestion.
Can you please tell me our to reduce congestion on the wap getway by blocking access to those specific application that overflow our 100 active session licence .

Hi Jean Pierre,

You might get some temporary relief if you go to the "HTTP" page of the NowWAP configuration and set the "Max Keep-Alive for Client Connections" to a smaller value, like 5 seconds ... or maybe as low as 3.

This will cause the connection to be released more quickly after the 403 error.

I would not go lower than these values, as I have seen some MMS clients that generate errors if the proxy does not support keep-alive connections.

We should consider releasing the connection immediately after a 403 error. I can't promise a quick fix for this, but I will discuss the issue with our engineering and product management people.

Follow-up ..

We have made some modifications to NowWAP to quickly drop the connection after a 403 error.

Additionally, we've added a blocked host/domain list to allow 403 errors to be generated directly by NowWAP.

We can't stop a client from connecting and trying to connect to one of these services, but we can speed up the 403 processing.

If you would like access to this update, send an e-mail to nowsms@nowsms.com with Attention: Des in the subject line. Include your company name and serial number in the e-mail, and indicate whether or not you are using the version with WTLS support so that I don't accidentally send you the wrong version.
