Hello we use MMS Gateway v 2012.06.28 in event log we see many events: info: Now:SMS MMSC v2012.05.28 service started at this time , pls see attached file. same time on proxy gateway connections to mmsc failed and in the log file we see following errors: Error: timeout waiting for response from content server. when this happening we unable to connect mmsc tcp/80 port. I think MMSC software periodicly crashed and restarted itself , ? what tath means and howto resolve this problem. Thanks

Hi, I know many off our customers purchase updates and maintenance, but do not regularly install updates. If this is true for you, I'd start with updating to the latest version. If not, then it is likely that there is a corrupt file in a message queue ... or I do remember one incident where a corrupt MMSC user database caused this type of problem. Let's start with the message queues, because I believe 2012 versions already have recovery and repair logic for the MMSC user database issue. 1.) Stop the MMSC service 2.) Remove ALL files and folders from the following NowSMS directories (copy the files/folders to another location, so that they can be reintroduced if desired): MMSCOUT MMSCIN VASPQ 3.) Restart the service 4.) If the problem persists, stop the service again and repair the MMSC user database: https://www.nowsms.com/repairing-a-corrupt-mmsc-user-database Then restart the service 5.) If the problem persists, enable the MMSCDEBUG.LOG (checkbox on the Serial # page). Every time the server restarts, the MMSCDEBUG.LOG will be overwritten. Try to capture an MMSCDEBUG.BAK, so that we can get a better idea of what is going wrong. -- Des NowSMS Support

More info: In Step 2 above, also add the MMSCACK directory to this list. I'm assuming that removing files from MMSCACK, MMSCOUT, MMSCIN or VASPQ will resolve the problem. Look at the timestamps of these files and it is likely that one of the files with the oldest timestamps is triggering the problem. Try moving other files back to the original directories. A few things to know about these directories: MMSCACK - MM4 acknowledgment queued messages (*.RFC) MMSCOUT - messages queued for SMTP e-mail delivery (*.RFC, may have matching *.INI file, but .INI file is not important, will be recreated) MMSCIN - Non-priority queued messages for local MMS delivery, mostly delivery reports (*.RFC) VASPQ - Queue for external MM4/MM7 outbound connections (each message pairs a .MMS and .INI file).
