Hi,
this is a repost from the SMS&Technical discussion forum, as I guess that this list is much more related to my question and I do want to use the now.sms product!
So, here it comes:
As far as I know, the Voicemail Indicator is a CPHS feature.
From the CPHS definition from
http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/tsg_t/WG3_USIM/TSGT3_15/docs/T3-000450.zip
I understood that CPHS-ready simcards should be able to store both the Voicemessage Waiting Indicator flag, but also information about Alternate Line Service (ALS) support.
While the MWI is stored in 6F11, information about ALS are stored in the Customer Service Profile, which is at the field 6F15 on the Simcard.
Is it possible to switch the ALS configuration (on/off) by using now.sms?
I'm surely aware that the solely activation/ deactivation of ALS on the does not automatically activate the service, as it is a network feature as well, but it would still help me a lot, as it controls the ALS menu's apperance on the phone!
As far as I know, A1(Austria) activates ALS-menu via service-sms.
Besides, if anybody knows a simeditor which is capable to do the trick, please tell me!
Thanks for any hints!
Chris

I don't think there's any connection between MWI and ALS.

Modern day MWI is defined in 3GPP TS 23.040 and its predecessor ETSI GSM 03.40.

And actually, they don't talk about the voice message waiting field on the SIM. The MWI message doesn't actually set that field directly ... instead the handset sets that field on the SIM when it receives the MWI.

Unfortunately, it's not so easy to make other SIM updates in this fashion.

To do what you want to do falls into the realm of SIM toolkit, where you can format an SMS to update information on the SIM. The overall process is outside of my scope of knowledge, but I believe you'll find more information in ETSI GSM/3GPP TS 11.14 and 11.11.
