Hello,
Due to the urgent nature of this issue, I repost it since I did not hear any reply to the posting of last wednesday.
I try to connect a PC running NOWSMS to an Agilent RF Analyzer (via the lan) to send SMS
to a GSM Mobile. Has anyone done that before?
I was told the Agilent only supports WAP on HP-IB bus and not the LAN (TCP/IP). I am sure this has been done before to test in lab environment.
Assistance highly appreciated.

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't have any hands-on experience with this.

I know we have customers that are using this type of equipment, but I don't know how they perform the interfacing.

The suggestion that I usually offer is this ...

What is the interface for submtting the SMS via the Agilent box?

Can you setup a simple web server, and write an HTTP script that accepts message parameters and submits it to the Agilent box?

If so, then you configure NowSMS to connect to that script as an HTTP SMSC. (See http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/ProductDocumentation/configuring_smsc_connec tions/HTTP_SMSC.htm)

When NowSMS has a message to send, it connects to this HTTP script, and passes parameters about the message to be sent. Your script can then submit the message into the Agilent system for delivery.

I know this is vague ... but without actually having one of those devices, I can only really talk about the interfaces out of NowSMS.

I will forward your message to one of my colleagues that has some contacts at Agilent to see if they have any additional advice/guidance.

Apologies for the delay in posting this follow-up. I received some feedback through Agilent, and they suggest that you are going to need to get in touch with your local Agilent Representative on this issue.

Your Agilent Representative will need to make contact with the Wireless Division at Agilent, and they can provide some assistance.
