Hi,

I am trying to use nowSMS to send an MMS message. I can succesfully submit a message through the web interface and I receive an MMS notification on my handset (Sony-Ericsson P900) but can't download the message.

I read in the nowSMS docs that this problem is likely to be restriction on the WAP gateway set up by default by the mobile operator (in my case Vodafone)

It gives an alternative WAP gateway that can be used (hosted by nowSMS) but doesn't specify parameters such as port no. etc. My WAP configuration screen has a 'Use Proxy' option which asks for:-

Address:
Port:
Username:
Password:

If someone could clarify what these should be, that would be great.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

Unfortunately, we are not running that particular open WAP gateway (@ 213.48.20.10) any longer. I'm not sure what is a good address of an open gateway (although you can download a trial of our gateway at http://www.nowwap.com).

You should be ok with the standard Vodafone WAP gateway. Although Vodafone did recently start blocking access to WAP sites that are not registered to them ... something about filtering adult vs. non-adult content, and if your site is not registered with them, then you are considered to be an adult content site, and access is blocked.

To determine if that is the issue, try sending a Multimedia WAP Push message. Does that work? (If it doesn't you may be blocked.)

Also, you are sure that your "local host name or IP address" setting in NowSMS is correct? You might not be blocked, but just have that setting incorrect. Please read this thread for more information about this setting:
