I am working with a private network -

AP= IP.Access
Core Software= Quortus Soft Core

initially I attempted to utilize the FGW IP and port to establish the SMSC connection, when that did not work I looked up the SMPP settings in the ran software -

The Quortus 'SoftCore' SMPP settings are listed as:

SMSC system ID= SoftCore
Source Address= 1000

Username=
Password=

had no luck with that, i tried several different combinations without success.

Reading through your forums I was unable discern a viable solution. Can any one provide any insight or suggestions?

Hi,

What error is NowSMS reporting when you attempt the connection?

Error reads:

Unable to Connect to SMPP server at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx

Save connection?

I am waiting on a response from Quortus, Whether I am able to adjust the SMPP settings of the SoftCore without adversely effecting existing service

Is there any specific 'port' number that this software prefers to operate on?

Hi Victor,

The "Unable to connect" error indicates that a TCP/IP connection to the server address and port is not possible. (This is before any attempt to supply login parameters.)

Assuming the address and port are correct, the most likely scenario is that you are being blocked by a firewall...most likely on the provider side. Many providers need to manually define your external IP address to their system before they will accept a connection. So I would suggest asking your provider about this.

From the NowSMS side, we use a dynamic port number for our side of an SMPP connection that we initiate. However, in rare instances, a provider may require you to use a specific port. (This is more common for UCP/EMI.). There is an advanced setting called SenderPort if you do need to set this parameter. It is described in the following link: http://www.nowsms.com/doc/advanced-configuration-settings/ini-file-settings

The issue turned out to be configuration settings on SMPP on the Core network ... thanks

connection has been established, I am able to connect to the 'web' and send messages from various UE, the system logs the receipt of messages, but I have not yet been able to retrieve any messages (SMS or MMS)through this service, I am currently still reading through your configuration guide, but if you could help narrow my focus that would be appreciated. I am also running across an issue with the installation reference code - I am running this on a virtual machine building a 'golden load' from which I will establish 5 machines. I did a test burn to gather the necessary 'IRC' to purchase licenses, but find that it did not change. I uninstall the demo load, and reloaded it on the second VM thinking that it was residual from the cloning. It still did not change; do I have to download 5 separate installation packages?

Hi Victor,

I suspect there are still issues to be resolved on that core network.

If the messages are being transmitted over SMPP with no errors, then it suggests there is some issue with the upstream service with which you are connecting.

The only issue that I can think of is addressing. Specifically this service might expect you to be using international format for sender/recipient (or it may be expecting you to be using national format).

To use international format, preface the number with + (e.g., +447777777777).

The same IRC is normal for identical VMs.

Des, thanks for the previous support, everything was eventually resolved. I apologize for not providing feed back earlier.

I have another question:

As previously discussed I have 5 prototype systems (VMs) running Now SMS/MMS gateway.

I am in the process of rebuilding that image for an upgraded platform (This has caused the IRC to change). What do I need to do to transfer the registration to the new platform.

Hi Victor,

Please send an email with your license details and full customer/contact information to nowsms@nowsms.com. Include the new IRC and an explanation. They should be able to get back to you tomorrow.
