Help. I'm evaluating NowSMS 5.51. I've configured the SMSC connection (it said "Modem Test OK" and added). I've also configured MMSC routing, and using MM1 via GPRS modem connection (it said "Connection Test OK"). I've activated MMSC service and use web interface to send MMS. After i fill the form and click submit, it shows "Message Submitted". Then I wait for notification SMS, and that notification SMS never arrive in the recipient phone. Curiously I use dial-up adapter sniffer to hear the conversation. I can see NowSMS setting context, dial to *99# and then it talks to WAP gateway at port 9201. Since i don't speak WAP :P i don't know exactly their conversation. Did i miss something? The point is the web interface shows "Message Submitted" but the recipient never got notification SMS about that MMS. Thank you.

Hi Rizki, What are the settings that you have configured for the MM1 via GPRS connection? (Save a screenshot to a BMP and post as an attachment here is fine, or just retype the settings here.) I'd like to verify that the settings look correct for your mobile operator. The most common issues that we see causing a problem with this type of connection are: 1.) There are two instances of "Login Name" and "Password" on the "MMS Outbound Routing" configuration dialog. The first instace of these fields (under "Server Address") should be blank in a normal configuration. If a username/password is required, it is generally for the APN, and should be entered in the second instance of these fields (under "GPRS APN"). 2.) Make sure that "Default Sender Address" is blank, and that "Allow Sender Address Override" is NOT checked. 3.) "Test Connection" only validates that there is a WAP gateway at the specified address, and that it can be accessed via the specified "GPRS APN". Many mobile operators have separate GPRS APN/WAP Gateway combinations for WAP vs. MMS traffic, so make sure that you are using the settings appropriate for MMS. Beyond that, I'd suggest enabling the MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG (an option is on the "Serial #" page of the configuration dialog). Then try submitting a message ... reply back by uploading the MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG along with the settings that you are using. -bn

Thank you for your reply. Hi Rizki, Apologies for the delay getting back to you. An error is coming back from the MMSC, saying that it cannot resolve the sender. Basically, I interpret this as meaning that the SIM card that you are using in the modem has not been enabled for MMS with the mobile operator. Try putting the SIM card into an MMS compatible mobile phone and verify that you are able to send MMS messages using a phone. I suspect you are going to run into similar problems from a phone. -bn

I already try using Sony Ericcsson T610 to send MMS using the same SIM card, and it works. Then i try to connect the phone to PC as GSM modem, and also use the same SIM card, to send MMS using NowSMS. But it doesnt work. I don't think that the problem is in the SIM card. Since it works when using phone, but it doesn't work when using NowSMS. Can you tell me which byte from the WAP gateway that indicate the error (from the LOG file) ?

Hi Rizki, Ok. That is very interesting. To answer your question about which byte indicates an error: 8C 81 98 44 32 41 37 44 36 33 37 00 8D 90 92 84 8B 44 35 5A 56 5A 58 59 42 34 4C 4D 39 00 Basically, it is the 92 84 ... this indicates X-Mms-Response-Status: mms_response_status_error_sending_address_unresolved Can you check the configuration settings on the T610 and confirm that it is is using the same WAP Gateway IP address (10.19.19.19) in the WAP Profile that is being used by the MMS client? Basically, what I'd like you to do in the T610 is this: Select Messages->MMS->Options->WAP Profile->Select - note the name of the WAP profile that is selected here. Go back to the main menu. Select Connect->WAP Options->WAP Profiles ... highlight the profile that was found above and press Edit. Make note of the IP Address in that profile, is it 10.19.19.19 (or 010.019.019.019 is fine)? Also make note of which data account is selected under "Connect Using". Go back to the main menu. Select Connect->Data Comm->Data Accounts, then select the data account found in the previous step, and edit it. Is the APN "mms.indosat-m3.net"? Assuming that those two things check out ok ... hmm ... This is a wild guess, but I'm thinking about what might be different when the T610 connects in to send an MMS message vs. when the modem does it. And it is possible to configure NowSMS to lie about its identity. Try the following. Edit MMSC.INI, and under the [MMSC] header, add: HeaderUserAgent=SonyEricssonT610/R101 Profile/MIDP-1.0 HeaderProfile=http://wap.sonyericsson.com/UAprof/T610R101.xml NowSMS will send some of the same headers that a T610 would, and perhaps that MMSC wants to see a profile header.

Thank you very much for your concern about my problem. I've tell nowsms to lie about it's identity , but IT WORKS when I use T610 as a GSM modem. My next step is to make sure this tricks works in my Siemens MC35 GSM modem since my real project is not using T610, but MC35. Can you tell me how can i get feedback in sending MMS. Is it sent successfully or not ? How can I now ? My last hope may be to parse the LOG file to find bytes that indicate error from WAP gateway. Thank you very much.

Oops, not always success apparently. I tried another case using same configuration, and it doesn't works. But the error byte not the same like the old one (unresolved sender). Sorry for sending a lot of message :P Here I try using T610 as GSM modem sending MMS to itself, and it works. Sorry, I missed this message. Basically, the fact that we are getting an "HTTP/1.0 200 OK" response to our request is a good sign. And the server is returning MMS content in the response, as you can see by the "Content-type: application/vnd.wap.mms-message" header. Of course, you were getting those indicators before. So we can look at the response too: 8C 81 98 45 44 31 38 45 30 38 44 00 8D 90 92 80 8B 47 34 35 57 54 51 38 34 38 55 57 34 00 Parsing these headers, I see 92 80 which indicates success. (Instead of 92 85 in the previous attempt.) Also, I see a header telling me the message id that was assigned for the message by the MMSC. So did you go back and try the MC35 again, but still with the configuration settings telling the MMSC that it was actually a T610? |
