Hi,

I have an application running on a local VM (VMWare) with address 192.168.93.128 and I want to test my application by sending an MMS with NowSMS via MM7.

I'm using android as my modem (via cloud). MMSC HTTP port number is 80.

I tried to use 127.0.0.1:80/mm7 in my application to submit the request, but it can't get through.

I tried to use a RESTClient (or Postman Chrome app) to POST http://127.0.0.1:80/mm7 with authentication using the username and password defined in "SMS Users", but I'm getting HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden

Am I missing something?

Hi,

MM7 messages must be submitted from an MMSC VASP account.

Hi Des,

I added a VASP account under "MMSC VASP" tab. I used the account name as username and password in my RESTClient to POST but I'm getting HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden .

Is there a setting I must add?

Thanks!

Hi Erika,

I'd probably need to see a Wireshark trace.

The 403 Forbidden response confuses me, because if it were an authentication issue, you'd be seeing 401 Auth Required...even if the account name/pass are included in the request but are not valid.

Can you access the web interface of NowSMS and use it to send an MMS?

The web interface of NowSMS listens on one port, and the MMSC on a different port...so the above test would tell me if both ports are working.

Another thought...did you set an IP address on the MMSC page or leave it as "all available"? If set to an IP address, it will NOT listen to requests on 127.0.0.1, and perhaps another server is listening.

Hi Des,

I can access the web interface and just successfully sent an MMS and received on the phone, but this is by using MM1 (android modem) as the message route. When I use mm7, I get "ThreadProcessVASPQ: MM7 - got unknown response - HTTP status - 403 Forbidden" from MMSCDEBUG file.

I chose "All Available" in my IP Address in the MMSC page.

Here are my settings:

Remove * from IP Address Restrictions. That is not an expected value, and is why you are receiving the 403.

Thanks Bryce! 403 error gone. But i still can't send an MMS to my phone via MM7 on the web interface, although the MMSCDEBUG log shows a SUCCESS response.

Hi Erika,

We really don't have enough information to guide you.

Forget MM7 for a minute...and make sure that you can send MMS successfully using the web interface.

Assuming that's ok...go back to MM7. What does the MMSC-yyyymmdd.log show? There should be an MMSIN entry when you submit and an MMSOUT when NowSMS posts it out. Does the MMSOUT show ERROR or OK?

Assuming OK...there's most likely a content error or maybe a header error. Operator systems frequently discard what they don't understand. Show a raw trace of the data, and we can identify anything suspicious. Keep it simple initially.
