Hi,

I'm trying to configure a T68 to receive MMS messages, but I'm having a problem with the MMS settings - my connection always fails. The T68 shows 'GPRS parameters not supported' and the PC shows 'Connection failed'. My phone can connect using the APNs 'orangeinternet' and 'orangewap', the orangemms APN is in the phone as I checked using the instructions given in another post on this forum.

I've used the following parameters:

Server URL: mms.orange.co.uk/
WAP Gateway IP: 192.168.224.10
GPRS APN: orangemms
Username & Password are blank

Any ideas?

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

You can't use NowSMS to receive MMS messages using a T68 (or any phone for that matter) as the modem. It needs to be a real GSM modem ... the reason for this is because the MMS client software in the phone always intercepts the MMS notification messages, and they never get routed over the modem interface.

However, that does not appear to be related to the error that you are seeing ... this would just be something that you would notice later.

It is possible to use NowSMS to send MMS messages outbound through an operator MMSC using a T68, so you could configure that under the "MMSC Routing" page of the configuration dialog.

The error that you are receiving has nothing to do with any of this ... it indicates that the GPRS connection is failing. Your SIM card might need to be enabled for MMS before you can connect to the "orangemms" GPRS APN. Verify that you are actually able to send an MMS message to yourself with that SIM card and these settings.

Some references to the Orange MMS settings on other web sites say that you need to specify "Orange" as the user id, and "Multimedia" as the password. When I posted the settings before posting them on the other thread, I tested them without a user id and password ... but it may have been a fluke that I was able to connect without them, so try supplying them to see if they make a difference.

Hi Bryce,

Thanks for that - I tried the username/password you suggested but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. Guess I'll have to part with some money for a 'proper' modem to do the job !

Thanks,

John

John,

It still concerns me that the connection attempt failed, because that should work regardless.

Are you able to send an MMS with the phone itself? (I'm wondering whether or not you need to be provisioned for the "orangemms" APN.)
