Hi, I have some problems to send settings to a Motorola v220 phone (but it works fine with a Sony-Ericsson). I've tried with the Send OMA OTA Settings page and the Send XML Settings Document page and the result is the same : if I don't check the OTA UserPIN I've got a "Update Failed: Contact Sender" error, and when I enter a UserPIN I get "PIN incorrect: try again". For the XML document I used the sample document included in the Motorola OTA Provisioning Whitepaper, so I assume the problem doesn't come from it... Have you got an idea about this issue ? Thanks in advance.

Hi NZ, Unfortunately, I won't have access to any Motorola phones for testing until the end of this week. Out of curiosity, have you tried different PIN values. I usually use 4 digit PINs when I'm testing (which I seem to recall having done on a Motorola phone before), but the Motorola documentation includes an example which uses a PIN of 12345678. I'm just wondering if perhaps there are some restrictions as to what is or is not valid as a PIN value on these phones. -bn

Well, the problem is solved, in fact it came from the SMSC, the message wasn't sent entirely. Thanks anyway.

By the way, it's a bit off-topic but I'm searching for a list saying which phones support WAP OTA Settings and those which support OMA Provisioning. Do you know if something like that exists ?

NZ, I don't have an exact list, but basically the only phones that support the WAP OTA provisioning are older Nokia phones, as well as most SonyEricsson phones. So if you want to find the specific models, there might be some info on their web sites. (www.forum.nokia.com for Nokia, and www.sonyericsson.com/developer for SonyEricsson) |
