I want to setup a test evironment for a short-code application. What I need to do is:
Configure a kind of virtual SMSC with Now SMS/MMS gateway on a PC connected to a GSM mobile phone handset.
And then use another instance of Now SMS/MMS gateway to connect to the first gateway using SMPP through TCP/IP.
Is this possible? Can I configure my 1st SMS Gateway to act as an SMPP server, where in the 2nd gateway uses the IP Address/Port of the first gateway and receives and SMSs through the 1st SMS gateway which inturn uses the mobile phone connected to the PC to send and receive SMSs.
Please help!!!

Is the test environment, I'm planning to emulate a possibility? Do let me know, if not any suggestions for an alternative scenario to get a similar environment working?

Please help me out there.

Basically need a virtual SMSC to test application before going to staging server with licensed SMS gateway and tie-up with Service Providers (carriers).

Yes, you could do this. Sorry for the delay in response, we have been unusually busy during a normally quiet period of the year ...

I'm not sure why you need 2 gateways, as 1 might be sufficient. But it depends on exactly what you are trying to do.

To route received messages coming in via a GSM modem to an SMPP account, you need to do this:

Define a "Phone Number" field for the modem under "Properties" in the "SMSC" list. When a message is received via the GSM modem connection, NowSMS will apply this phone number as the recipient address of the message.

In the "SMS Users" list, where you define the login that allows a client to connect via SMPP, you need to include the above "Phone Number" in the "Recipient Address(es) to route to this user" field. What this means is that when NowSMS receives an SMS message where the recipient address matches one in this field, NowSMS routes it to the SMPP account instead of processing it for 2-way SMS (or routing it outbound to an SMSC, depending on the direction).
