Hi there,

I am working on a C# application for sending and receiving SMS/MMS through Now SMS using a Nokia 7600. I would like to be able to disconnect/connect the phone at any time. It seems that Now SMS is not able to reconnect to the phone if it has been disconnected. Any clues?

Some USB drivers lock up when a device is removed unexpectedly.

Generally, it's not a problem for NowSMS if you disconnect/reconnect a device. While the device is disconnected, NowSMS will just periodically try to reconnect ... over time it will wait longer and longer to attempt reconnects. Eventually, it will wait up to 10 minutes between reconnect attempts. (For more information on controlling these reconnect attempt intervals, see the discussion of InitRetryDelay settings at http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/53/9502.html.)

Unfortunately, if the USB driver hangs, there's not anything that we can do. (In these cases, generally you'll notice that the same thing happens if you manually connect to the device COM port through HyperTerminal, then disconnect/reconnect the device. HyperTerminal hangs because the underlying USB driver is locked up.)
