hi!

i am planning to create websites with sms/mms capability. (meaning, the website will send info to various clients whenver there are updates on the website..

i just wanna ask:
1.what are the technical aspect that i need to consider

2.specific instructions and detailed explanation on how to setup.

3.is nowsms a gateway (confused)

any response will be greatly appreciated..

Hi gabby,

The main thing that you need to realise is that SMS isn't open like the internet.

Basically, it's a big business for the mobile operators, and they take great effort to make sure that every time an SMS message is delivered, someone is paying the mobile operator. The following link has a bit more of an explanation:

I don't have specific instructions, because configurations vary so much.

Generally speaking, NowSMS is middleware. Middleware components are typically called "gateways". You need an SMS service provider or a GSM modem in order to actually send any messages with NowSMS.

NowSMS can simplify the process of connecting with different service providers, enabling 2-way messaging applications, and delivering a variety of different message types.

But the starting point for a newbie is understanding how you are going to connect into the SMS networks.
