Hi,

I run Now SMS with a USB Modem. I works great, but from time to time it crashes and I get this message:

Modem Failure -- Unable to access modem, ensure that it is powered on and passes diagnostic tests.

And then I need to unplug and replug the modem to get it working again. I changed computer, and modem (switch from D-Link to Qualcomm), and it still happens.
Problem is tha I don't know when it happens so I never now if My SMS are deliverd or not.

How can I find out the problem?

Thanks

Hi,

It’s not an ideal solution, but in our experience USB modem drivers sometimes lock up, and the only way to recover is to reboot Windows. There is a configuration option to automatically reboot if the modem becomes inaccessible. It is described in more detail here: https://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/72495.html

Thanks for your answer.

Actually, rebooting won't be an option as this computer is used for other purposes as well, but I've found a way to restart modem without unplugging it, using devcon.exe.

Question is : how can I trigger this command from NowSMS when there is an error?
Also, I don't see where I could configure alerts in NowSMS for errors. I have Now SMS lite.

Thanks for your help.
