One of our customers is using NowSMS version v2014.06.30. Though a permanent license is applied, the maintenance expiry date is past since the license was not updated later.
We are now in the process of upgrading the installation to 2020 version and have a valid license for the same. As mentioned in the upgrade document, can we run the setup over the existing installation to complete this upgrade? Can we apply the new license during the process? Will the upgrade process accept the new license as the maintenance expiry date is already past for the previous installation ?

We need to upgrade the our version to the latest version with minimal down time. could you please let us know best way to do this?

Hi Mathew,

Yes, you can run the setup over the existing installation.

When you run setup, it will prompt that the existing upgrade agreement (maintenance expiry date) is expired, and it will provide an option to apply the new license. The attached PDF shows what you should expect to see when running the setup:
