Hello, I'm trying to send a special character through the NowSMS web interface but it doesn't arrive correctly. the special character is ¤ or %A4 When I send instead of receiving ¤ I receive € Can anyone help me to overcome this problem? | |||

What type of SMSC connection? SMPP? NowSMS defaults to use the GSM (IA5) character set. In that character set, this character ¤ as hex 0x24 in the resulting message. In the GSM character set, the Euro symbol € is encoded as a 2 byte escape sequence. Some SMS providers use the iso-8859-1 character set, where ¤ is still hex 0xA4. The Euro symbol € is not defined in this character set, but the Microsoft Windows 1252 character set is a superset of iso-8859-1 and uses hex 0x80 for the Euro symbol €. To address the Euro symbol confusion, the iso-8859-15 character set was defined. This character set removes support for the ¤ character and replaces it with the Euro symbol €. So, basically, if your provider uses iso-8859-15 encoding, you are out of luck because ¤ no longer exists. Regards, Bryce Norwood NowSMS Support | |||
