Hi,

I am having trouble with configuring nowsms to respond to 2 way sms. I have set up the sms command prefix and command to execute as shown in the installing/configuration guide.

I also noticed that when I installed nowsms, now SMS-IN directory was created. I assumed the incoming SMS would have been stored there.

I have connected my mobile to act as an smsc via GSM modem configuration. This is over a bluetooth connection. I can send txt from the web interface.

any suggestions?

Hi Tunu,

The SMS-IN directory isn't created until the first time a message is actually received.

Since you mention that you are connecting to your mobile over bluetooth ... what type of phone is it? There is a problem that phones that use the Symbian OS (Nokia 3650, 6600, 7650, 9210) only allow you to send SMS messages through the modem interface, they do not support receiving SMS messages. So if you have one of those phones, that could be the problem.

If it is not a Symbian OS phone, what phone is it?

Hi Tunu,

No there is not anyway around this. Everything that I have read has stated that it is a limitation of the present generations of the Symbian OS. That when SMS messages are received, they are automatically placed into a database by the OS.

One would think that there should be a way to disable that behaviour, but I've yet to see anything.

I've got a Nokia 6600 as well, and I would love to be able to use it for both sending and receiving SMS through NowSMS, but it supports sending only.

I have a similar problem. I set up 2 Way SMS to respond for any incoming SMS message but the rule is not function. The SMS message received can be found on SMS-IN directory so they are receive well but incoming rule not apply.
I'm using Nokia 22 GSM adapter.
Thank you

Cristian,

If your messages are making it as far as the SMS-IN directory, then it is definitely a different problem. NowSMS can see the received messages, but there is a configuration error or some other problem running the 2-way command.

Can you please reply back with your SMSGW.INI file, and also the contents (and file name) of one of the received messages that you see in the SMS-IN subdirectory?

It would also be helpful to enable the debug log in NowSMS. Do this by manually editing SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] section header, add Debug=Yes. Restart the NowSMS SMS gateway service, and NowSMS will produce a file named SMSDEBUG.LOG as it runs. It would be helpful to see an SMSDEBUG.LOG that shows the gateway receiving an SMS message.
