Dear developer,

I setup the NowSMS 5.0 and configurated the SMSC with smpp method, the testing connection is ok, but I send the SMS text through the web interface, nothing send to SMSC GW. I check the SMSOUT.log that show SMPP Failure, unable to connect to SMPP server. I can sure the SMPP configuration is ok and the port is no problem. what's problem here?

Thansk!

Tim,

That error message means that NowSMS could not make a connection to the SMPP server at a TCP/IP level.

If you are certain that the IP address (or host name) and port number are correct, then perhaps there is a firewall that is blocking access ... perhaps it needs to be open from your address.

What is odd is that in order to get the SMPP connection defined, the configuration program would have attempted a connection, and required that it was able to connect ok. What if you go back to the NowSMS configuration program, go to the SMSC list, select properties, and then press "Ok" on the SMPP server defintion ... NowSMS will attempt to connect to the SMPP server, does that work?

I reinstall the software and the problem is solved. I can send the SMS now. but I still have some problem.
1. Does NowSMS can working as a WAP Gateway?
2. How can I set the MMS Setting/MMS server URL? Does it have a default URL?
Thanks!

Hi Tim,

1. No, it does not include WAP gateway functionality. If you need a WAP gateway, you can take a look at www.wap3gx.com.

2. The MMS Server URL and MMS settings are configured in the mobile phone, there is no default unless the phone was preconfigured by the mobile operator. For Nokia and Ericsson phones it is possible to send an OTA message over SMS to send settings to the phone (and as more phones implement the OMA Provisioning Content standard this will be possible with more phones in the future ... NowSMS supports both the old Nokia/Ericsson OTA format, and the OMA Provisioning Content OTA format).
