I'm evaluating a few different products for my company. So here's a few questions.

I need to be able to pick SMS Messages up from an Exchabge server and forward them to specific numbers. Can NowSMS do this? Either via a MAPI profile or POP3 address?

In the web interface, can I have different address books for different people based on a either IP address or username?

Can I push commands at the server via a command line? I would like to be able to have my helpdesk system POST a message to your software and that would generate an SMS message.

And lastly, can I spoof the sender ID of the SMS message? This isn't for work, it's for me as it's good fun - I used to do this with another product.

Cheers

Joe

Hi Joe,

We don't have any automatic polling of a POP3 mailbox. NowSMS looks like an SMTP server, which means that you can setup rules in your e-mail client to forward selected e-mail messages to an e-mail address on NowSMS which goes out to SMS (or MMS). (The PDF manual for our latest version has more information on e-mail setups.)

The web interface has different address books for people based upon user account.

Yes, here's a good link to show you how to do this:

It depends on your SMS connection. This is a function of the service provider, not necessarily the software.

When you use a GSM modem to send outbound messages, you canNOT override the sender address. That is a limitation of the capabilities of a GSM modem.

Most SMS service providers will allow you to insert different sender IDs in messages that you send ... however, the policies will vary by SMS service provider. Very frequently this is available.
