When an MMS is sent and the “from:” field is empty the NowSms software sends an illegal msg to the phone. The generated message will make some handsets reset. Example: Nokia 6230. Are there any settings to prevent this from occurring?

Hi,

It may cause problems on some phones, but it is most certainly not "illegal".

If you refer to the specifications, you will see that the from field is optional.

Of course, I can think of no good legitimate reason for this to be allowed, but that is another story.

When NowSMS is connecting to an external MMSC, there are settings for a "Default Sender Address" which can be applied to messages that do not have a sender.

When NowSMS is acting as the MMSC itself, there is no general setting to force a sender address when one is not present. There are settings that can be applied to individual VASP accounts to do this. But you can still submit a messages via the web interface without a sender.

The NowSMS web interface is the easiest way to send an MMS message:
