Hi, I'm in USA with Nokia 6270 on T-Mobil. I'm trying to use the phone as modem. the NowSMS software recognized the phone. the Test (button) result is successful. But:
.: I can't receive SMS into NowSMS.
.: I can't send SMS out from NowSMS web interface.

Question:
does NowSMS works with Nokia 6270, even the test is ok?

BTW, anybody knows how to setup 6270 work with t-zone in US, such as receiving MMS?

Thanks!

well, sending message works! It just a bit slow and also works behind sense, so to speak. No trace at all on my 6270. Guess that how modem works.

Hi,

The Nokia 6270 should be ok for both sending and receiving SMS. (Nokia Series 60 phones have a limitation that their GSM modem interface implementation only supports sending ... not receiving. However, I believe the 6270 is a series 40 model.)

The following thread has some general 2-way troubleshooting steps for configuring 2-way SMS and receiving SMS messages ... http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/4520.html.

You will not be able to receive MMS messages with NowSMS using that phone as a modem. In general, this is a limitation of using a mobile phone as your GSM modem. In every mobile phone GSM modem that I have seen, the MMS client in the mobile phone will always intercept MMS messages so that they will not be forwarded over the GSM modem interface. A dedicated GSM/GPRS modem device is required in order to be able to receive MMS.

For sending MMS, see the general information about configuring a connection to send MMS via a GPRS modem here:

http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/ProductDocumentation/mms_notifications_and_c ontent/Connecting_to_operator_MMSC.htm

That particular link has not been updated for NowSMS 2006 yet (the PDF has, but not the HTML web pages). In NowSMS 2006, there is a "Lookup Operator Settings" button that you can use, and T-Mobile's MMS settings can be selected from the list.
