I am new to the discussion board. I thought I had seen an example using now.sms to turn on and off message waiting indicators. I am interested in doing this on US ATT/Cingular,T-Mobile, Nextel, Sprint and Verizon perhaps using asterisk and now.sms, has anyone done this? I assume I would also need a gateway like clickatel? Your thoughts would be appreciated. | |||

Hi, NowSMS can be used to trigger various message waiting indicators for GSM environments (ATT/Cingular, T-Mobile), but not for CDMA (Sprint, Verizon) or other (Nextel) environments. Sending these notifications requires an SMS service provider that supports binary SMS delivery. (I'm not sure if Clickatel supports binary SMS delivery to US operators at present. For awhile they did ... then they didn't ... I haven't kept up with their current capabilities.) -bn | |||
