what does this error mean: NowSMS Error Report. SMPP server not started, unable to allocate port 4494124

If nowsms is working can I use "Ozeki sms client" to connect to it?

It means that on the "Web" page of the NowSMS configuration dialog ... "Port Number for SMPP Server" is set to "4494124" (or some other strange value). It should be set to a value lower than 65535.

Note that when you are configuring that setting, you are specifying an SMPP server port through which NowSMS will accept SMPP connections from other SMPP client software. (It has no relationship to any outbound SMPP connection that you may have configured.)

I have no working knowledge of the other SMS client that you mention ... so I don't know the answer to that question.

If you are using an SMPP client, you can direct received SMS messages to the SMPP client. The easiest way to do this is in your definition of the outbound SMSC connection, there is a "Route SMS to Local User" option where you can select one of your defined "SMS Users" accounts to receive any SMS messages received on that connection.

Or ... you can route the received SMS messages to an e-mail client.

The easiest way is to do this is to define an "SMS Users" account ... and use the "Route SMS to Local User" option described above. However, instead of connecting with an SMPP client, you connect to that account with a POP3 e-mail client. You must enable the "POP3 Server" on the "MMSC" page of the configuration dialog to support this. For more information, see the section of the PDF manual (installed with NowSMS) that covers e-mail connectivity.

Invalid Source Address is an error message that is returned from your SMS service provider.

Generally this is from an SMPP based service provider.

It means that the sender address that you have configured is not one that your SMS service provider allows.

If you need to use a specific sender (source) address when connecting to your SMS service provider, configure that address as the "Default Sender Address" when configuring the SMPP connection in NowSMS. And then UNcheck "Allow Sender Address override". (If "Allow Sender address override" is checked, this means that the default sender address is only used if no sender address was specified by the submitting client. If it is UNchecked, then this means that the default sender address will always be used.)
