I am using an SonyEricsson GC89 to send out SMS messages over GPRS and receiving the following error message: 2006-06-27 21:24:21,44A1F51F.req,127.0.0.1,602XXXXXXX,Retry Pending - ERROR - Modem Response (2): +CMS ERROR: 1 -- Sony Ericsson GC89 EGPRS Modem,Sender=480XXXXXXX. What does ERROR: 1 mean? | |||

That error code is coming from the modem ... there is a list of defined CMS error codes at the following link: Do you get this when sending all messages, or just some? CMS ERROR 1 indicates that the destination number is not a defined number. If you configure NowSMS to use SMS over GSM instead, does the error go away ... and the message get sent ok? If so, then it is possible that your operator does not have SMS over GPRS enabled in your region. Usually in this case, a modem will fall back to using GSM ... but sometimes the operators have SMS over GPRS partially setup and instead of falling back to GSM, strange error codes like this are returned. -bn |
