hi i have a SX1 phone and every time i try to connect to it i have an error msg that says that the modem is in use by another application but i turned off all the applications in the task managers but i still have no response from the program? what is the problem??? thanx in advance!!! | |||

Hi, The "Applications" tab in the Windows Task Manager only shows applications that have a window open. It doesn't show service applications, or applications that run in the background with only a tray icon. So you might have a program running in your startup that is allocating the modem. A frequent culprit is modem tools or PC suite software that came with the phone. Many times those software programs keep scanning for a phone/modem to be connected, and then connect to it automatically once it is connected. So you want to make sure that you're not using any extra utility software that shipped with your phone (like for file transfer or editing your phone book) ... because that could get in the way. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any software that can tell you which application has your modem open. But AutoRuns is a good utility for checking for all of the software that gets loaded automatically when your PC starts up.
