Hello, I'm encourtering problem with SMS using V3 phone. After sending one SMS message, I have to unlpug the V3 phone, stop the SMS service, plug the phone, test the phone, and start the SMS service again. After sending one message, we have to do the same thing. We changed another V3 phone and the problem remains the same. Do you think we should re-install NowSMS in order to kill the problem? Also for the MO, the SMS message remains inside the phone. It did not pass to the SMSC (NowSMS is acting as an SMSC. | |||

Hi, It sounds like a problem with the USB driver for the modem. Re-installing NowSMS is not likely to have any effect ... but removing/re-installing any modem related drivers would be a good idea. I'd be curious to see an SMSDEBUG.LOG to see if that provides any other clues. In general, I do not recommend the RAZR V3 for use as a modem, because it, and most other Motorola phones, have a bug that prevents them from being able to send out SMS messages that include user data header. User data header is required for long text messages, EMS, WAP Push, OTA and Nokia Smart Messaging ... so without this support you are limited to simple text messages. But as long as you're only sending text only messages, you shouldn't have any problems. Anyway, let's take a look at the SMSDEBUG.LOG to see if we can get any clues as to why you are unplugging and replugging in the phone. Enable the SMSDEBUG.LOG on the "Serial #" page of the configuration dialog ... and repeat your sending attempts. Wait a few minutes, and then post the SMSDEBUG.LOG as an attachment in reply to this message thread. -bn |
