Hi,
I tried to get the nowsms program working off your free trial, but something did not work. Therefore, could I please ask what exactly you need to be able to use the program and send a nokia binary ringtone off your PC. Do you need accounts on other programs as well as nowsms, like a messagin provider, and what modem do you need. Also, I tried to send a ringtone in nokia binary off a 6210 to a 3310 and it did not work. Will sending it off the now sms program solve this problem?

Thanx
Ian

Ian,

Apologies for any confusion, but we are not an SMS service provider. We concentrate only on software that is more of a middleware component.

This is why we have the following text bolded on our download page:

Please note that a connection to an SMS service provider, or a GSM modem is required to send messages using this software.

The following link may be helpful:

Also, about GSM modems:

Good luck!

Start by downloading a copy of the Nokia Smart Messaging specification from www.forum.nokia.com. That will give you the message formats for those messages on Nokia phones.

You're going to want to get the messages converted into hex string format.

As you get up to speed on that document, here are some threads that may be helpful:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/1664.html
http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/1758.html

You'll see some references to EMS in some of these threads, this is an alternative to Nokia Smart Messaging, published by (Sony)Ericsson, Motorola, Siemens and Alcatel.

Also note that the pure SMS picture message formats are black and white only. Modern picture messages are sent via MMS and/or WAP push. Many newer ring tones are also sent via those formats.
