Hello,

Is it possible to send SMS message's with a PCModem in your PC? When i select my PC modem he says: MODEM DOES NOT SUPPORT SMS PDU MODE -ERROR-. Is it possible to use my modem with other protocols (and where can i found/download that)?

Hi.

If you mean a regular conventional phone line modem ... that's not going to work.

You need a GSM modem (or a GSM phone that acts as a modem) ... with a SIM card to be subscribed to a mobile network.

Hi,

The free SMS scams by changing your SMS message center number are pretty much a thing of the past.

As it would typically end up costing the operator real money if someone abused their SMSC and exceeded the operator's negotiated SMS interconnection allowances ... they're all very careful to prevent such abuses.

Unless you subscribe to an alternate SMS provider for sending from your phone (which is technically possible, but rare), you'd be sending the messages through the default message center pre-configured on your SIM card (the operator's SMSC).

Hi,

Some additional information ...

If you have a reason to change the SMSC, you can manually do it by editing the SMSGW.INI file, and under the section header for your configured GSM modem, add the statement:

SMSC=+phonenumber

The phone number should include numeric characters only, except for a "+" symbol that can start the number to indicate that it is in international format.

Note that you need to restart the gateway after making any changes to this configuration.

I have seen some GSM modems (most notably the Ericsson DI28 which is a clip-on modem for some Ericsson phones) that require an SMSC value to be set in the software.
