Hi,

In previous threads (quite old) transceiver mode with address_range should be fixed in 5.51 versions. My company have bought and tested 2006 and the problems still occur.

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/5000.ht ml

From SMSC logs:

2006-09-06 10:48:58,642 INFO [STDOUT] 10:48:58 [sys] new connection accepted
2006-09-06 10:48:58,654 INFO [STDOUT] 10:48:58 [] client request: (bindreq: (pdu: 46 9 0 3) MobeonSMS zaq!23.q Mobeon 52 (addrrang: 0 0 ) )
2006-09-06 10:48:58,655 INFO [STDOUT] 10:48:58 [] server response: (bindresp: (pdu: 0 80000009 b 3) )

According to SMSC support is this due to the fact that address_range is still 0 although I have set it to provided value.

I also get “Unable to login to SMPP server with specified parameters ERROR: Invalid Dest Addr” window when I try to chose SMPP transceiver mode (with address_range set) in SMPP Advanced Configuration Options.

Is this still a known bug or is it something you are planning to fix soon?

Rgds,
Anders

Hi Anders,

It certainly looks like it is being sent if I look at the raw packets.

The only issue that I noticed is that this parameter is not sent when the connection is tested after you first define it. But it is sent when the service connects for a live (rather than test) connection.

If you are seeing otherwise, I would like to see an smppdebug.log from your system and the smsgw.ini. Enable smppdebug.log by enabling smsdebug.log on the "serial #" page.

Hi,

It seems like address_range is submitted in transmitter mode. I have tried to just ignore the test connection but transceiver mode just uncheck itself.

I have attached logs you asked for.

Hi Anders,

Your log file is empty, and it looks like the SMSDEBUG.LOG was included instead of the SMPPDEBUG.LOG.

According to your SMSGW.INI file, transceiver mode is not enabled.

Please note that in order to enable the transceiver mode, you must "OK" all the way out of the SMPP configuration settings, and then press "Apply" to save the changes.

To be clear, the process is this ...

Edit or Add the SMPP connection.

Press "Advanced Settings".

Check "Send and Receive Messages over the same connection (SMPP Transceiver)".

Press "OK".

(You are back on the page that says "SMPP Connection" ... the page that has the "Advanced Settings" button.)

Press "OK".

(You are back on the "SMSC" page.)

Press either "OK" or "Apply" to save the change. (You will be prompted as to whether or not you want to save if you try to exit without applying.)

A connection test is performed automatically when you press "OK" ... and this connection test will not include the "Address Range" parameter for a "transceiver" connection.

However, the actual connection by the server will include the "address range" parameter.

Hi bn,

Sorry got the wrong log. Re-attached it now.

I have tried to do exactly that. But when I have applied or pressed the OK button and then go back to advanced settings the SMPP Transceiver is unchecked. Our SMS-C can see that we tries to connect in transceiver mode but later we still connects with transmitter. The address_range is sent with transmitter mode.

I'm puzzled about the setting not getting saved.

Unfortunately, I can't recreate...but try manually setting the option in SMSGW.INI, under the [SMPP - server:port] section:

ReceiveSingleConnection=Yes

Also, AddressRange= should have your address range setting.

Thanks,

After adding those two lines the settings are saved. Now I will try again. Get back after my tests.
