Hi,

Have you read the section of the PDF manual that covers e-mail? It starts on page 215.

And it explains how to configure Outlook Express as an example.

The PDF gets installed along with NowSMS 2006 ... it should be loaded if you press the "Help" button ... and it should also be in your "Start" menu under NowSMS.

It can also be downloaded at http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms2006.pdf.

I'd start with that, and then please feel free to ask any questions.

Hi,

NowSMS 2006 can be installed over an existing NowSMS installation, and it will read all of the configuration information.

If you are running a trial version, NowSMS 2006 will reset the trial period to 60 days.

If you are running a purchased version, NowSMS 2006 will not recognise existing serial numbers (and will warn you during the install). Purchased versions are eligible for free updates for one year, of if you did purchase v5.51 in the last 12 months, you can contact us to get an activation code for NowSMS 2006 (otherwise there is a small charge for the upgrade).

No.

You might find some relevant information in this old newsletter:

thank you for your help, bryce.

by the way, i just need to know if what are the requirements exactly when setting up this email to sms setting. because i followed all the instructions in this forum:
http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/3451.ht ml

... but i always failed sending email message to sms. i have only installed nowsms in my winxp system with outlook express as the email client. should i really need an external mail server (e.g. mdaemon mail server) to be able to "communicate" nowsms with the email client?

if you would'nt mind, can i request an "idiot's guide", a step-by-step instruction on how to set-up this thing? i have read the other forums here, and i really envy those writing here telling that they were succesfully doing good with the program.

The functionality that you are trying to access is MUCH easier in NowSMS 2006, because we added functionality to the product to make it easier to connect e-mail clients to NowSMS without the need for a separate mail server.

And you'll note that the NowSMS 2006 manual even contains a screen-by-screen explanation of connecting with Outlook Express for sending/receiving SMS or MMS.

The old approach for NowSMS v5.51 required that you know something about configuring mail servers and understanding mail server technology.

And if you wanted to configure an e-mail client like Outlook Express to connect to NowSMS directly to submit e-mail ... you needed to create an account in Outlook Express where the inbox pointed to a POP3 mailbox on an actual mail server, but the outbound SMTP mail settings pointed to NowSMS. So when you sent with that account, the outbound messages would be posted by Outlook Express to the NowSMS server over SMTP ... but Outlook still requires that you have a valid inbox associated with the account, and that needed to be a POP3 mailbox on a separate mail server.

NowSMS 2006 can also function as a POP3 server, receiving SMS and/or MMS and putting the received messages into the POP3 mailbox. So there is not this confusion of a separate mail server.

If you actually have a license for NowSMS v5.51, I think you would be well served by calling us to inquire about the upgrade.

hi bryce,

ok, i'll try that in 2006 version.

but one more thing...regarding old version 5.51 (i'm sorry to keep you) i have a confusion that i would like to resolve first before i go to the 2006 version.

i have acquired a domain name and of course it has also an IP address aside from mine which is running nowsms. my question is, which IP adress should i put at the "SMTP Relay Host" field? the one that runs the nowsms server (my computer) or the one that hosted my domain name?

thanks

sir,

i have installed nowsms 2006 and was successful in sending sms messages through the web interface, as well as the outlook express which configured to the setting described at the manual/guide (email-to-sms). but i'm really confused, about:

1) the IP address that was configured on the "Incoming mail server (POP3) and "Outgoing Mail server (SMTP)" in the outlook express which corresponds to my PC running the nowsms server (192.168.0.114 both pop3 and smtp setting).as i understand, it was supposedly intended for the purpose of testing sms message by sending from outlook express within my machine running the nowsms server, right? but what about if someone wants to send email that is not using an email client outside the pc running nowsms? maybe using a webmail? let's say for example that i have a costumer registered with an actual email address of abcd@hotmail.com. how would he be able to perform this? or let's say that he was using a mobile which he can send email to sms, how would it be possible?

2) what email address should the sms sender (the one receives the email message) be placed on the first string of his reply message, which is processed by nowsms so that it can be sent back to the original email sender? is it abcd@hotmail.com?

for testing, i have registered abcd as"username" and 1234 as "password" with mobile number +639185575977 in the "MMSC Users" list and added the xyz@domain.com as the email address in the "Authorised E-mail to SMS/MMS Senders" tab. but when i'm doing the test, there has no message came to the specified email. what am i missing here?

could you help me out, pls???
