Hello, I've just installed nowsms2006 and proceeded to configure it in same order says on the manual. At first i was able to send sms from the web interface (/Send%20Text%20Message.htm) but after couple hours i couldn't any more. I found in the file SMSOUT-20060921.LOG lines like the following: 2006-09-21 02:53:45,System,,Motorola USB Modem,Modem Failure -- Unable to access modem, ensure that it is powered on and passes diagnostic tests. So I go to the SMSC tab, click the Test button and a dialog box says everything is ok. A file named like: 451224D5.req is created every time I attempted to send the sms, I will appreciate any help you could provide. By the way I'm using a motorola V3. I've read a post saying motorola's phones have trouble with binary sms, but as I've said, at first I was able to send a couple text sms.

Hi, You are correct that the Motorola phones have a problem with binary SMS via the GSM modem interface ... but text messages are ok. The error that you would see with binary SMS messages is different ... normally you would see details about the message, and a "CMS ERROR: 304" mentioned as the error. In this case, it is indicating that the modem is inaccessible. That is very strange since the modem test works. Let me ask you one question, and then I'm going to ask for some more information from you. The question ... when this occurs, if you stop and restart the NowSMS SMS Gateway service, does the problem resolve itself? And for more information ... could you enable the SMSDEBUG.LOG (easiest to do this on the "Serial #" page of the configuration dialog). Then when this problem is occurring, use the "Test" button to confirm that the test indicates that the modem is ok. And reply back with the SMSDEBUG.LOG as an attachment so that I can see if this provides any more information on the errors. -bn

It appears my system is slowly degrading itself, now I got: Unable to initialize modem: Error 80000018 from lineGetID and even Motorola Phone Tools can't initialize the modem. It just responds (initialize) after unpluging and pluging again the cable, but still no sms. I'm giving up with this phone for now, I'll try with an w800 tomorrow so I can assess the gateway. Thanks anyway |
