Hi,
I have configured NowSMS (v2006) as a SMPP server and connect it to a GSM modem. I have an application that interface to NowSMS via SMPP for sending/receiving sms.

I was able to receive DR but the message ID is unknown. What could be the reasons?

Thanks.

Hi Vince,

I assume that the DR that you are getting back actually has "unknown" as the message id, correct?

I haven't encountered this issue enough to have any suggestions of what the problem might be.

I'd like to see an SMSDEBUG.LOG that shows you send the message, and the delivery receipt coming back in. (Enable the SMSDEBUG.LOG via a checkbox on the "Serial #" page of the configuration dialog.)

Hi Bryce

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Yes you are correct, the Message ID of the DR is unknown. Attached is the SMSDEBUG.LOG.

Hi Vince,

Everything looks perfect in that debug log ... except for the "unknown".

We are receiving all of the necessary information to properly identify the message. And what I see in the SMSDEBUG.LOG on my test system looks very similar to what you see, only I get a valid message id instead of "unknown".

I've got some other data that I'd like to check.

Beneath the NowSMS directory, you will find a directory named SMPPDATA. Could you ZIP up the contents of the files and directories beneath that directory? There should be a directory named "iTegno GPRS Wireless Modem" (let me know if there is a directory of some other name), and I'm interested in seeing the 20061005.D2A and 20061005.D2I files. You can either post here, or e-mail to nowsms@now.co.uk with a subject line of "Attention: Bryce".

Dear Bryce

I am able to locate SMPPDATA/iTegno GPRS Wireless Modem directory but it is empty, no files are found.

Thanks.

Hi Vince,

Apologies for the delay in response.

It appears that the problem was related to GSM modem drivers that included a "#" character in the name ... for example, if you have more than one of the same modem attached to the PC. In that case, we were not tracking the receipts properly for those modems.

I've posted an update to http://www.nowsms.com/download/2006patch.zip which should correct this problem.
