Hello,

I have installed the NowSMS gateway (which we purchased) with a Falcom Samba56 USB GPRS Modem on a Cingular chip with both voice and data plan.

I can successfully send SMS messages via web interface.

I am now attempting to send WAP Push message via web interface.

The Web interface reports success.

However, I don't receive these messages on the phone. (Nokia 6230)

Below is debug info with private info [REMOVED]

Any assistance on this time critical issue would be greatly appreciated.

Is the recipient also on Cingular?

In the US, there is no support for binary messages going across carriers. (I also believe that there are some Cingular Blue vs. Orange issues, where messages between these two networks also go through the cross-carrier link that does not support binary messages.)

I assume that plain text messages are working ok?

What if you send a WAP push back to the phone number of the modem itself ... do you see a binary message coming back in if you look at the SMSDEBUG.LOG?

Unfortunately, I suspect the issue that you are experiencing is the lack of cross-carrier binary SMS support in the US.

You may want to try editing SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] header, add BinaryDCS=4. I doubt this will make a difference (if it does not make a difference, remove the setting so that it does not cause future confusion) ... but it might as I seem to recall an issue on the old ATTWS network where binary messages were not supported with DCS=F5, but were with DCS=4.

So I have debugged the problem a little more.

Apparently TMobile is an even WORSE service than I thought it was. Not being on a TMobile tower will prevent WAP push from coming through. Even though standard text message and voice work fine.

I put in a Cingular chip and POOF! it worked just fine.

I am soooooo glad I am switching my personal service to a REAL network (cingular) this week.
