Venkat,

There is no problem sending MMS messages out through a 7110.

To send out an MMS message the gateway does NOT require an MMS compatible phone.

The MMS notification message is sent out to the recipient mobile phone as a binary SMS message. This notification message instructs the phone to make a WAP connection and fetch the content of the MMS message from your Now SMS/MMS Gateway. (So it is necessary that the gateway be on a public IP address, and that the "Local Host Name or IP Address" setting is set to a valid value for connecting back to the gateway PC.)

Hi Bryce,
For sending MMS message as you said i can do with 7110 but how do i receive the MMS on 7110.

Actually what i want to do is, I want to use phone which has both sending and receiving capability.Ie i will send the MMS message to the same phone which i want to use as Virtual SMSC.

Are there any phones available in the market which supports MMS and act as Virtual SMSC like 7110.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Venkat,

To be able to receive an MMS message through the phone interface, you need a mobile phone that does NOT support MMS, and that does NOT support WAP push.

Most Nokia 7110's did NOT support WAP push, although some late models of that phone did.

As long as you have a 7110 that does not support WAP push (no "push inbox" menu in the WAP browser), then you should be able to receive MMS with it.

Unfortunately, with most recent phones supporting WAP push, aside from the 7110 or trying some other older phones, the best alternative is a dedicated GSM modem device like the Wavecom Fastrack modems.

Hi Venkat,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. There are two types of data cables for the Nokia 6210.

The "logomanager" software typically uses a specialized type of cable that allows more programming control over the phone.

Now SMS uses a standard "data cable" type of interface. Basically the type of cable that you would use to make "data calls" through the phone as a modem.

Try defining a modem driver in Windows for the modem ... pick either "Standard 9600 bps Modem" or "Generic 9600 bps Modem" ... then run diagnostics in the modem area of the Control Panel ... and select "Query Modem". If that doesn't work, then you don't have the right type of cable.

That said, some types of cables are switchable between the different modes on the Nokia phones.
