We have observed that the +xx prefix sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. In a test system with a 7110 is used as a modem, we're able to use +47 in front of the phone number. In another setup, where the gateway is using UCP/EMI, this prefix doesn't work. Any ideas why we see this problem ?

Olaf,

UCP/EMI interfaces tend to be quite primitive.

The "+" symbol is not actually supported in the actual UCP/EMI protocol. Instead, if a "+" character is present in the "sender" address configured for the UCP/EMI connection, then this causes the gateway to set the OTOA (Originator Type Of Address) to 1139, which indicates that all phone numbers will be in international format (and the gateway strips off the "+").

You might need to talk to the UCP/EMI service provider to make sure that they are configured to support international OTOA 1139 on the account that is being used.
