What model Motorola phone? What version of NowSMS? Chances are that the mobile phone does not support the GSM modem commands for sending/receiving SMS (ETSI GSM 07.05/3GPP TS 27.005). If you are using an older version of NowSMS (pre-v2006), then there is an issue where older versions of NowSMS do not recognise some Motorola phones that have limited GSM modem support. If you think that a modem supports SMS, but NowSMS is reporting an error, then you can try issuing the following commands to the modem manually via HyperTerminal (usually installed under Programs/Accessories/Communications): AT+CSMS=0 AT+CSMS=128 AT+CSMS? An "OK" response to one of the first two commands, or a "+CSMS:" response to the third, is generally enough to get beyond the "Modem does not support SMS" error message in NowSMS. Do note, however, that the GSM modem implementation in all Motorola mobile phones that we have tried appears to have a bug where they cannot be used to send most binary SMS message types ... and generally the phones can only be used as a modem for sending text SMS messages. -- Malcolm Now Wireless Support |
