Hello, First of all, How nice to find this website and descussing board. I'm wondering how NOWSMS calculate Unicode characters for long messages. 70 letters for 1st message. what if longer than 70 unicode letters? usually 70+70=140 but this is wrong cause i know in connacation you should use some characters to boubd the messages. So how manu character will use? Thanx in Advance. | |||

Hi Alaqeel, When you go beyond 70 Unicode characters, you can fit 63 characters per message part. With normal GSM text, when you go beyond 160 characters, you can fit 153 characters per message part. However, as I say this, it does not make sense to me why the overhead is so high for Unicode characters. I will have to confer with my colleagues, but I believe the overhead should be 6 bytes, or 3 Unicode characters, meaning that 67 Unicode characters can fit per message part, instead of 63. I'm going to have to confer with my colleagues on this, as maybe my calcluations are wrong. I can confirm, however, that NowSMS does calculate 63 Unicode characters per SMS when there are more than 70 characters. -- Malcolm Now Wireless Support | |||

A follow-up. Malcolm's analysis appears to be correct. When a Unicode message is longer than 70 characters, NowSMS appears to be sending the message in 63 character segments, when it should be using 67 character segments. An update for NowSMS 2006 that uses the 67 character segments instead can be downloaded at http://www.nowsms.com/download/patch2007.zip. -bn | |||

Hi After installing patch2007.zip the User Account Statistics in the Web Admin doesnt display the User usage stats. The User usage stats are correctly displayed on NowSMS but not on the Web Admin. Regards Sam | |||

Hi Sam, Thanks for the report. It looks like one of the changes for Vista compatibility caused a problem for the web admin in locating the user account statistics. The link has been updated with a new version that corrects this problem. -bn | |||
