the thread is so long and old regarding modems that work with nowsms that i thought i should ask. what are the top 5 modems that will work with nowsms and which would be the most simple to configure? does this multitech work these days without any problems; MTCBA-G-U-F2

Hi Brian, Yes, most of that thread is about using phones as modems. And the quality of GSM modem implementation in phones varies considerably. Since you mention a Multitech model, I assume that you're looking at a dedicated modem device (which is a better option) ... and more than likely you are in the US (where Multitech modems are easier to source). The model that you mention is a good one. We have one and use it quite extensively in our US office. Do note that this particular model only supports the US frequencies. (There are other models for outside of the US ... or there are EDGE models that are quadband for use in or out of the US.) -bn

thx bryce your software found my modem in seconds and i was able to send text messages in minutes. VERY GOOD!! questions 1) how many can it send?..........25,000 or more? 2) is there a log anyplace to determine what was sent?.......or what may NOT have sent? i noticed it would email u with errors....how can u be sure your messages were sent? 3)also where to the 2 way or the reply messages go if you have it set in the default mode?..........i could not find them? thx again bryce

1.) Performance is highly variable depending on operator network performance, modem performance, etc. Remember that these messages are being sent out via your operator SMSC, so you are charged based upon the plan to which you are subscribed. 2.) SMSOUT-yyyymmdd.LOG shows what was sent out, and also errors (including retry-able errors). 3.) If no 2-way commands are defined, each received message becomes a text file in the SMS-IN directory. They will have either a ".IN" or ".SMS" extension. (".IN" means it is waiting to be processed by a 2-way command. ".SMS" means that it did not match the criteria to be processed by any defined 2-way commands.) -bn
